About Me
I'm a Dutch guy and race a YZ250, 2 stroker all the way. I'm also a amateur photographer. I mainly shoot the GP's I visit and living in the Netherlands is perfect for that. Always a couple of GP's to go to without too much travel. If you want to check out my GP photo's go to www.pbase.com/jefro98 or keep an eye on the photo section of this website.

View All Blog Entries- New season has started
- I did not finish my blog on here about the last bit of the season. After the UK GP I still had the Dutch GP and the MXdN at BudsCreek but things got a little crazy and I didn’t write anymore.
Anyway, new season is starting in Europe. Most countries already started their domestic championships and the GP season starts in about a week at Valkenswaard / Holland.
Last weekend I’ve been to the second Dutch national which was the first time I used my camera again for MX since the MXdN. You can find some pics here: http://www.pbase.com/jefro98/2008onkobroek
I was a bit rusty at first and the snow didn’t help either but I think a took some nice shots there.
As already mentioned before, next week the GP’s kick off and I will be there. Don’t know my exact GP schedule for the 08 season yet but I’m happy spring is in the air and the racing starts again.
Thanks for reading……. - Donington Park, UK
Last two weekends I did not attend a GP but the next two will be all about GP racing for me.
This Friday, I’ll hop on an Easyjet flight from Amsterdam to London and stay with my mate Simon and his lovely wife Claire. Simon and I will ride up to Doninigton Park on Saturday morning for the GP in his super fast Mini.
The track is new, and from what I have read, it’s very good with a lot of jumps.
We’re not sure yet were we will be staying on Saturday night but I’ll sleep in the car if necessary. The weather forecast looks good so we’ll be fine. I guess.
Cairoli already claimed the MX2 world championship last weekend in Ireland but the MX1 championship is wide open. A still injured Coppins will return and defend his points lead against Ramon who rides with a broken bone in his hand, must be tough for both of them. We’ll see what happens.
I’ll be home on Monday again with a load of pics to process. Hope my new Apple MacBook already arrived by then. My old PC laptop is getting old and slow, need a new one but I’m switching to Apple. They’re supposed to be really good, but I can’t confirm that yet……..- Sunny Namur.
So the Namur GP was epic again. We left Friday morning for the 3 hour ride. Arrived around noon at Namur and with the parking pass we drove all up to the Citadel and parked the van right next to the track. Base camp was all set.
We unloaded the minibikes and checked out the place. Nothing really changed on the track. I like it like that. The track is basically the same as it was in the early 80’s when we first visited Namur.
On Friday afternoon there was the Monte Namur ride and Stefan Everts was riding the track too. Myself, and not too many other people, believed he actually would ride it so I left my camera in the van and missed maybe the last opportunity to take riding pics of the King. Damn. (At least I saw Dave Thorpe win the Sunday Veterans race. Got some nice shots of him.)
Later in the afternoon we hooked up with some Brits and an Ozzie to do the track walk. This will take you at least an hour. I brought my camera and photographed the completed track with a wide angle lens. Think I might upload them to my Pbase.com page one of these days.
We slept at the track in the van the first night but were lucky to get in the hotel after all for the second night. Flooding problems were solved.Friday and Saturday night were as expected. Have diner with the blokes and find a bar the have some more beers. Lots of moto bullshitting, always a good laugh. On Saturday night we just could walk into the hotel and go to sleep, but on Friday we had left the van at the track and had to ride up the citadel in the dark. That was pretty cool. Race up an old castle in the dark on a minibike is something I don’t get to do very often.
Saturday and Sunday racing was great. With all the guys mixing it up it was very difficult to keep up on the overalls. During the last MX2 moto, we were with a bunch of photographers on the infield guessing who would actually win the GP. One said it would be Goncalves, I thought it could be Searle but in the end it was Guarneri with 4-3 scores.
You can find my pics of the event in the photo sections of this website or on my Pbase page:http://www.pbase.com/jefro98/2007_namur_gp
Next up it the British GP at the last weekend of August. Stay tuned.
- Leaving for Namur within a few days,
and we were all set but I just got a call from my British mate Matt with some bad news about the Hotel in Namur.
Due to the heavy rain, the place was flooded and they cancelled all reservations. With the city completely booked, for me and my brother there is nothing left to do then to sleep in the company van. It’s not too bad though, we used to do this all the time. It’s good fun and the weather forecast looks great.
We will arrive in Namur Friday afternoon, park the van somewhere in the city, get the bikes out and ride up to the Citadelle. Spend the day there, race down again, have diner with the guys and go out for a few beers. Might be a bit of a problem to find the van again after the beer drinking but we always managed sofar. On Saturday morning we wake up and repeat the routine and Sunday will look similar. Sounds boring huh?
Well, not exactly. The Namur GP is great and as a true MX fan you should have heard about the place. If you ever get a chance to visit this magical GP race, do it. It’s worth it.
More to come….

- Busy times
It’s been awhile since I updated my blog ‘cause it’s been a bit quiet for me and GP race visits. Round 5 at Teutschenthal has been my last GP but I have visited a World MX3 round ( they don’t call ‘m GP’s) last month. You can check some MX3 pics here:
http://www.pbase.com/jefro98/2007_mx3_dutch_round
But it’s all gonna change soon. I have 3 GP’s coming up. First weekend of August I’ll be at the Namur GP, last weekend of August is the British GP, a week later the Dutch GP at the gnarliest sandtrack of the world: Lierop, and to top things off, we’re going to the MXdN at Buddscreek.
Nice schedule sofar and I’m really looking forward to the next few months. Stay tuned to VitalMX.com on the Monday mornings ‘cause GuyB’s mailbox will be stacked with GP racing shots for him to upload to the photo sections.
I’ll be back soon.

- Round 5 German GP
Round 5 of the GP series, GP of Germany was round 2 for me.
I left home on Saturday morning for the 5 hour drive to Teutschenthal. For a Dutch guy, 5 hours of driving is pretty long. Our country is small, if I drive 1½ hour to the west I’m at the beach. If I drive 45 minutes to the east, I’m in Germany. If I drive 1 hour to the south, I’m in Belgium and 2 hours to the north will take me to the north shore. So to visit friends or family, a 1 hour drive is pretty far away already.
Like I said, I’m in Germany within 45 minutes and the good thing about Germany is that there is no speed limit on the highways. So it was just me, the car (Peugeot 406), my Ipod (German radio sucks) and the highway on an early Saturday morning. It didn’t take long before I was doing 120mi/h and making up some time on the scheduled arrival time of the navigation system.
Arrived at the track just before noon, and found out there had not been any riding due to the hard wind. Some signs and banners were blown onto the track and everything needed to be secured before the riding went off. The time schedule was shortened and the rest of the day went fine.
At the track I had ran into my good friend SlaveO and his mates and we would meet later that day to check out the beertent. When we got there at night the place was already full and a good party was going on. At 2 in the morning I decided I had way too much alcohol already and headed to my car to get some sleep. My car is big enough to sleep comfortably in, and when you’re pissed it doesn’t matter too much anyway.
Woke up on Sunday morning at 7.30 and found out I had not even taken my jacket off. Stumbled out of the car and cleaned myself up to head out to the press office again and find some breakfast.
Sunday was a good day again. Great racing and made some good photo’s.
After the races, I hung out at the pressroom a bit and went home a bit over 6. I did not eat much that day but had a lot of free RedBull. Normally, I won’t touch the stuff but it kept me going all day. Must be a hangover thing.
Raced home in a bit more then 4 hours and got my Saturday photos e-mailed to GuyB before 11.
Good weekend, loads of fun, good racing. Can’t wait for the next GP, maybe France, otherwise it will be Namur but we also have a MX3 GP in Holland before that.
