Ascot Motocross 75 to 85
I started on a Harley Baja 100 (2 stroke) in the 100 Junior class at Ascot/CMC motocross. Bill (Gino) Boyer lived around the block from me in Torrance. Bill started out a few years earlier
on a Hodaka "STEENS" 100. It had that weird leading-link front end. Bill was fast and worked his way up to the pros.
I moved up to 125's, skipped the 250s and bought Dale Lewis' Maico 450 Magnum. Once in the 500 class I actually started winning some races. (Better late than never)

Donny Luce raced with us in the 125 Junior class but quickly moved up to intermediate then pros. I remember seeing him on T.V. racing quads. I understand he's a Team Manager at Yamaha now.

The night of my first win in the 500 class,
(5/11/83) Russ Wageman won the 125 pro class, Jim Holley won the 250 pro class, and Craig Cable beat Mickey Diamond,Ricky Johnson, and Tim Hart to win the 500 pro class. I was just happy to be on the same track as those guys.
