2017 NMA Off-Road Series Rd#6 RIVERCITY HARE SCRAMBLE

Unfortunately I missed round #5 Golden Spike Hare Scramble.  It was voted #1 venue for the previous year but I had a wedding to attend and I told myself at the beginning of the season that life comes before racing.  Round #6 was the first race in the series that wasn't a double header so I didn't have to grind out 2 races in a single weekend.

My accident from round #4 really did something to my shoulder, even though I had a month to recover something still wasn't right.  I wasn't sure if I'd be able to race this round but the days leading up I decided I would try.  This was going to be the first round with a course in the timber that I was stoked about.  Conditions of weather and terrain were perfect as well.

This round was another dead engine start that I was excited for, but issues with my electric start continued.  Fortunately my bike fired and I was able to grab my second holeshot of the year.  I think I completed 1 lap and that's when things went wrong.  I was still holding 1st but I ended up damaging my shifter such that it pointed directly at the ground and kept hitting on things that kept up shifting me.  I had to stop numerous times to grab the shifter and bend it in to grab some splines on the shaft and down shift the bike because I was in 6th gear and had zero power.  Shortly after the gear shifter got caught on something and disappeared, which left me in 2nd or 3rd gear.

My shifter wasn't the only thing that handicapped me during the race.  I got stuck in a mud hole for awhile and I also ended up losing my skid plate and linkage guard.  It turned out to be another costly race but I ended up taking 2nd place and was able to finish without too much shoulder pain.
